I survived my BFA Thesis Film

In his senior year, Emerson College grad Rob Leshin took on his BFA thesis film, a vision he formed years earlier as he was narrowing his decision on a school. After a key realization, costly equipment fails, schedule changes and hours of editing, his BFA thesis was a totally different project — but it was done. For many college filmmakers at this time of year, the finish line feels far. Rob broke the tape, completed his project and lived to share his experience.

KSUA is a student-operated and student-funded college radio station that serves the University of Alaska Fairbanks and surrounding borough. KSUA went on air in the mid 80s and has focused on promoting underground talent, fostering the local music scene and preparing students for a career in broadcasting ever since. After making it into the Top 3 last year, KSUA’s listeners came out in full force this year to make them the winners of mtvU’s 2013 College Radio Woodie Award. Congratulations KSUA!

Family Guy’s Seth MacFarlane Surprises UCLA Class

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane made a surprise appearance to Professor Denise Mann’s “Overview of Contemporary Film Industry” UCLA class where announced a new contest giving college students the chance to become Oscar trophy handlers at the Academy Awards.

MacFarlane’s “Stand In” will premiere on mtvU and mtvU.com beginning December 10 at 10 a.m. ET/PT.
